22 Weeks and a SURPRISE!!!

Yesterday I hit the 22w mark! Yep, we're on a quite a roll now. I had my check up this morning and we were greeted with such a surprise. If you read my post a while back you will remember me saying that Baby B was definitely a girl, but there were some questions about Baby A. Apparently, today things were different. As my wonderful husband would say, "Baby A's apple grew a stem!" Yep, we are now having a BOY and a GIRL! Mady was right all along when she used to say that Mommy was having "one each" ... in other words... one of each! We already had a boy name picked out so there won't be much to do on that end... Now I just have to find some boy clothes!!!!

I was definitely a little more shocked this time around vs. Mark being shocked last time when they said it was 2 girls. I was used to saying that we were having 2 girls. After all, the sono tech said she was pretty sure A was a girl. I was excited that we already had all the clothes and pink stuff that one household could ever imagine! But, I'm excited to have a boy now - it's just taking a little bit longer for it to sink in. We were praying in the beginning that we would be blessed with one of each so we definitely got what we were asking for. Mark is really excited to have a boy to carry on the family name and to do "manly" things with. He was really cute today when he told me that he was excited about the chance to be able to raise up a strong Christian man in today's world. That really touched my heart.

Both babies look good. They are stil measuring a little small but that's too be expected. Our boy is 14oz and our little girl is 1 pound 2oz. You go girl! According to a singleton growth chart, one is in the 25th percentile and one is in the 45th. Everything looks great though - even the fluid levels around each baby look good. Baby B, our girl, is definitely more active than our boy which seems to be backwards. She is currently feet down while our boy is head down. I am still praying that they will swap places as girl's feet are lower than boy's head making a natural birth impossible at this point. Oh well, there's still time for them to move.

Doc says I look good too. He pressed on my stomach a few times and said "good news is that you are definitely all baby up here." I'm still able to exercise and get around well. He did say that he didn't want me to pick up Madalyn anymore which actually made me shed a few tears. It's going to be so hard to not pick her up unless I absolutely have to (getting in the car, putting her to bed when mark isn't here, etc). It makes me so sad but I have to watch out for the little ones inside of me too. Doc also said that I need to put up my feet at least 1 hour out of every 4 or so - just to make sure that I force myself to rest ... as I tend to stay busy, busy, busy and I forget to slow down.

But, everything is going smoothly. Now I'm just on a quest to find some little boy clothes. Apparently it's time to get some blue in this house....

Dad's response: I'm pretty stoked about being a big boy Daddy. I was pretty scared that I wouldn't be able to tell the 2 girls apart. Now, I can confirm everything anatomically. Now Betty will have a Benny to play with. (Benny and Betty Bettinger). I called my dad, Grandpa Chuck today. He's also very excited about having a fishing, camping, dirt stomping, big belching little buddy. Apparently my mom is relieved that her duties in these areas will be commencing. 2 girls would have been great, but truth be told, I'm very, very excited about having a son. Little Benny Bettinger. Thank you, Lord.
